I believe this view is from somewhere in the San Niccolò neighborhood, or even further east. The camera appears to be facing west/northwest, and the Florentine "skyline" can be seen in the distance, including the towers of Palazzo Vecchio, the Badia Fiorentina, Giotto's Campanile, and of course the Duomo.
