Florence-on-line.com is leaving X, You Should Too

After more than 15 years on X (formerly Twitter) and with more than 5,000 followers, florence-on-line.com has stopped posting and will soon be completely deleting our account. This was not a difficult decision, and it was long overdue.

Let's be honest about what X is: a cesspool of right-wing conspiracy theories, misinformation, and hate speech. Under Elon Musk's ownership, the platform has amplified racist content and extremist voices while systematically dismantling content moderation. Musk himself has repeatedly promoted racist conspiracy theories and given platforms to white supremacists and fascists, and apparently is hand tuning his AI to his own personal racists whims.

We're leaving because staying on X means tacitly supporting a platform that actively promotes fascism and hatred on a daily basis. Every post we made (and you make) was helping to legitimize and financially support a system designed to spread division and hate.

When businesses, governments, and individuals stay on X, they're propping up a platform that amplifies racist content, spreads dangerous conspiracy theories, gives megaphones to fascist movements, and profits from hate and division. Every user who remains active is helping fund this machine of hatred.

The travel industry celebrates diversity, cultural exchange, and human connection. These values are fundamentally incompatible with what X has become. If you run a travel website or business (or any business!), ask yourself: Are you comfortable helping to finance a platform that spreads hatred against the very communities you claim to celebrate?

When a platform becomes a tool for spreading hatred and undermining democracy, continuing to use it isn't neutral. It's complicity.

florence-on-line.com has left X because we believe in treating all people with dignity and respect. We encourage every travel brand, content creator, tourism board, Italy lover, and travelers, to do the same.
