Calcio Storico
The ancient Calcio Storico starts on Sunday, preceded by a large procession of over 500 costumed Florentines. They have been building the stadium in Piazza Santa Croce for weeks, and tonight the first couple of truck loads of sand were brought in. I am really looking forward to this, "cross between Greco-Roman wrestling, rugby and soccer" played on a sand pitch in the middle of this historical city.
We should have an excellent vantage point from the apartment - I'll post some more pictures and maybe even some video.
