Terrazze Michelangelo
Terrazze Michelangelo is a restaurant, pizzeria, and event venue perched at Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence, one of the city's most iconic hilltop viewpoints. Set amid the greenery overlooking the city, it offers both indoor and outdoor spaces large enough to host events throughout the year. The venue describes itself as one of those quintessential Florentine night-out destinations -- a lively, relaxed spot for memorable evenings with friends or family, complete with live music nights and DJ sets, plus themed parties tied to holidays and celebrations.
The place has deep local roots. Its history goes back to 1952, when it was known to all Florentines simply as "Il Bologna" -- a beloved gathering spot where young people spent afternoons with friends, fell in love, and skipped school. It was founded by Valente Taddei, who famously installed a skating rink on the site. His son Piero took over in the 1980s and transformed it into the restaurant it is today. Now the third generation, Andrea Taddei, runs the venue, carrying on a family tradition he describes as deeply tied to the family's identity and roots.
Beyond casual dining, Terrazze Michelangelo positions itself as a full-service event location, catering to weddings, graduation parties, christenings, communions, 18th birthday celebrations, bachelorette and bachelor parties, children's birthday parties, and corporate dinners. The venue is rated "Excellent" across nearly a thousand reviews on TripAdvisor, with guests consistently praising the impeccable service, abundant food, and the warmth of the staff. It's located at Viale Michelangiolo 61, Florence.
