Mass Hours for Florence's Churches

This is our best effort for mass hours - this information is not easy to find!

Every church on our Churches of Florence index, cross-checked against the Diocese of Florence's own orarimesse.it directory plus each parish's own site where the diocese listing was blank or thin. Two entries on our churches page -- the Great Synagogue and the Russian Orthodox Church -- aren't Catholic parishes, so "Mass hours" doesn't apply to them in the usual sense; their service schedules are noted separately at the bottom. Confidence level is marked per church: sources agreed cleanly in most cases, but a few (marked below) had conflicting weekday times across the parish site, orarimesse.it, and third-party aggregators like DinDonDan -- verify those on the ground before publishing if precision matters for a given page.

Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (the Duomo)

Confidence: Moderate -- sources disagree on weekday times. The parish's own recent schedule (via a DinDonDan scrape of duomofirenze.it, dated May 2026) gives different weekday times than an aggregator's more detailed breakdown. Recommend confirming directly against duomofirenze.it before publishing, since robots.txt blocked a direct fetch this round.

Basilica of Santissima Annunziata

Confidence: High. Confirmed by the parish's own site (annunziatafirenze.it) and a recent DinDonDan scrape.

Basilica of Santa Croce

Confidence: High. Directly from orarimesse.it's official listing.

Certosa del Galluzzo

Confidence: High. Two independent sources agree: Sunday and solemnities only.

Church of Santa Maria Maddalena dei Pazzi (Borgo Pinti)

Confidence: N/A -- no schedule found. orarimesse.it lists this church with a blank hours field. This convent church functions largely as a historic site today; I found no evidence of a currently active public Mass schedule. Note: a same-named but unrelated parish exists elsewhere in Florence (Via dei Massoni, Coverciano/Bandino area) -- don't conflate the two if you search further.

Church of Ognissanti

Confidence: High. Confirmed by the church's own site (chiesaognissanti.it) and DinDonDan.

Orsanmichele

Confidence: High. Orsanmichele's single weekly Mass is folded into the neighboring San Carlo parish's schedule ("12:30 -- Santa Messa in Orsanmichele"), confirmed independently by DinDonDan.

Russian Orthodox Church

Confidence: N/A -- different liturgical calendar, not a fixed weekly clock schedule. The Orthodox community celebrates a Vigil on Saturday evening (historically around 6:30 PM) followed by Divine Liturgy Sunday morning, but exact times shift with the Orthodox liturgical calendar and are posted week-by-week on chiesarussafirenze.org. This isn't a Catholic Mass and doesn't map cleanly onto a fixed schedule -- recommend linking to their site rather than publishing a fixed schedule that will go stale or be wrong on any given week.

San Frediano in Cestello

Confidence: Moderate -- weekday evening time is unsettled. Sunday times (9:00 AM, 11:00 AM) are consistent across every source. The single weekday/Saturday evening Mass, however, was given as 5:30 PM by the parish's own blog, 6:00 PM by one DinDonDan scrape, and 6:30 PM by another (likely a winter/summer seasonal shift DinDonDan is capturing at different times of year). I've used 6:00 PM below as the middle estimate -- worth a phone call to confirm before publishing (055 215816).

Basilica of San Lorenzo

Confidence: High. Confirmed consistently across orarimesse.it, the Diocese's own listing, and the basilica's own visitor-info page.

San Miniato al Monte

Confidence: High. Confirmed by the abbey's own site and DinDonDan, matching closely. All Masses are celebrated in Latin with Gregorian chant.

Sant'Alessandro a Giogoli

Confidence: N/A -- no schedule published. The Diocese of Florence's own directory lists this parish's Mass times as "Dati non disponibili" (data not available). This lines up with your own note on the FOL page that the church was closed both times you passed through. Worth noting this church is technically in Scandicci, not Florence proper, and functions on a much smaller scale than the rest of this list -- I'd flag it as low-priority for a Mass-hours card at all.

Sant'Ambrogio

Confidence: Moderate -- Saturday time disputed. orarimesse.it's own official listing gives Saturday at 9:00 AM (same as weekdays); a DinDonDan scrape from summer 2025 gives Saturday at 6:00 PM instead. I've gone with the diocese's own listing below since it's the primary source, but this is worth a quick confirmation call (055 240104) given the two sources genuinely disagree rather than one just being stale.

Santa Felicita

Confidence: Moderate -- Sunday Mass count disputed. DinDonDan (Nov-Dec 2025) shows a single Sunday Mass at 11:00 AM; a separate aggregator (March 2026) shows two, at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. I've gone with the more recent single-Mass version below but flagged the possible second one -- this is a small parish and schedules like this do shift.

Santa Maria Novella

Confidence: High. Confirmed by the parish's own site and DinDonDan, matching cleanly.

Santa Maria del Carmine

Confidence: High. Directly from orarimesse.it's official listing.

Santa Trìnita

Confidence: High. Confirmed by DinDonDan and the parish's own historic schedule, matching cleanly.

Santo Spirito

Confidence: High. Directly from orarimesse.it's official listing, matching DinDonDan.

Great Synagogue

Confidence: N/A -- not a Catholic church. The Tempio Maggiore holds Jewish services (Shabbat and holidays), not Catholic Mass -- orarimesse.it and the diocese wouldn't cover it, and I didn't find it on Jewish community service listings in this pass. If you want service times for this entry, that's a separate research thread through the Comunità Ebraica di Firenze rather than an extension of this one.
